What to Expect

I’m not going to sugar coat it- life is hard, but together we can make a plan to improve it.
My goal is to provide you with a different and more personalized experience for medical management of any mental health disorders. My focus is on educating you about your mental health in order for us to make joint decisions based on your management. I want to provide you with flexible and customized hours to allow you to continue to work or go to school all while focusing on your mental health. Expect a compassionate and thorough interview to come up with a plan to improve your quality of life. Working with your therapist and primary care physician we will together set a plan to make you feel optimal.

About Dr. White

One bite at a time

Dr. Katrina White is a board certified Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience. 

Her specialties include Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP) and Family Practice (FNP). These qualifications include prescriptive authority.  She specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar illness, PTSD and addiction. 

She initially earned a Masters of Science Degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from George Mason University in association with George Washington University 2012, after which she worked various emergency departments in Northern Virginia. Next she worked as a provider in a Family Practice while working as a Medical Examiner for the Commonwealth of Virginia. It was at that time she realized that she wanted to work for prevention in mental health disorders. She then completed her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at George Mason University in 2020 followed by her Doctorate in 2021. She has since been certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy. She is credentialed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society.

She is currently serving on the Board of Directors of Mental Health Association of Fauquier County, Virginia.

What is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner?

A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is a Registered Nurse with advanced academic and clinical experience, which enables him or her to perform physical and psychological assessments, provide diagnoses, conduct therapy, and prescribe medication‘s for individuals with a psychiatric disorder.
A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is not a Psychiatrist. A Psychiatrist is a trained Physician who has completed medical school and residency in Psychiatry. If you prefer to work with a Psychiatrist, or if a referral to a Psychiatrist is appropriate for a complex problem, I will provide you with the referral information and directly assist you with the referral process.

How are payments collected?

You will be expected to pay for each session prior to services rendered. You can pay with a Debit card, health savings account, or credit card via the link on the this website and an invoice will be directly send to you via sms or email.

Self pay prices:

Intake appointment: 60-90 minute session $295

Follow up: 30-45 minutes $185

Medication follow up: 15-20 minutes if verified by provider $150

Accelerated Resolution Therapy: $200 for 60 minute session.

Will my insurance cover my visit?

Cigna is the only insurance currently accepted by Apple Psychiatric Services . This means that Katrina is an “out-of-network“ provider and is not able to charge any other insurance company or third-party directly. If you plan to use your insurance benefits, you’ll be provided with a standard invoice that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Many insurance companies provide substantial reimbursement for mental health services by an "out-of-network provider". Please note, payment in full prior to your visit.

What do I do to cancel an appointment?

You must provide a minimum  of one business day (24 hours) notice if you wish to cancel a scheduled appointment or you’ll be charged a $50 late cancellation fee. Businesses are considered weekdays, Monday through Friday, and excludes holidays. Please note that insurance companies often do not reimburse for missed appointments.

How do I get my medication refill?

 Prescriptions to be written with enough medication to last until your next appointment. It is expected that you will not need telephone prescription refills with ongoing recommended follow up. Urgent refill requests may take 48 hours to process. Early refill telephone requests for controlled substances will not be honored.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Reach out via email or this website below at "Contact Dr White" and Dr White will ask questions to confirm if you are appropriate for this practice. Once it is verified by Dr White that you are appropriate for online only appointments she will send DocuSign forms to your email. Once these forms are filled out she will reach back out to confirm an appointment time.
